The Civilitas Foundation presents Climbing the Mountain: Personal Journeys of Armenians and Turks featuring journalist Cengiz Candar and filmmaker Theodore Bogosian.
The first discussion took place in Brussels on June 22. The next discussion took place in Istanbul on June 24.
The Civilitas Foundation’s Climbing the Mountain program will hosted Turkish writer and journalist Hasan Cemal, author of the bestselling book “1915: The Armenian Genocide.”
Hasan Cemal is the grandson of Cemal Pasha, one of the architects of the Armenian Genocide. His host was Maria Titizian, a granddaughter of Genocide survivors.
Ms. Arpine Aleksanyan and Ms. Sona Baloyan from Yerevan, from “Matenadaran” Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, were supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for meetings with the Armenian Patriarchate, Armenian high schools, foundations and publishing houses to discuss possibilities of further collaboration on preserving the Armenian culture.
