Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant - Second Round Results

Hrant Dink Foundation is happy to announce the selection results of the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant in the second round. Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant aims to support the travels of at least 200 individuals from March 2014 to May 2015 thanks to the financial assistance of the European Union.

The Foundation launched the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant with a view to increase direct contacts and to promote cooperation between the peoples of the two neighbouring countries.

 

Hrant Dink Foundation administers the Travel Grant in partnership with the Civilitas Foundation in Armenia and with the support of Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) based in Turkey and the Youth Initiative Centre (YIC) based in Gyumri, Armenia.

 

Hrant Dink Foundation launched the first call for the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant on March 10th, 2014. Within the first three weeks, we received a total of 162 applications from both countries. In the first round, 29 individuals - 22 from Turkey, 7 from Armenia were supported with the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant for their visits to the neighbouring country.

In the second round of the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant, we received a total of 224 applications from both countries. 103 applications, which were in full compliance with the technical requirements mentioned in the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant Regulations, were submitted to the independent Selection Committee. These applications were carefully assessed by the committee in accordance with the selection criteria and priorities mentioned in the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant Regulations.

 

We are delighted to announce that the Hrant Dink Foundation will be offering support in the form of a travel grant to a total of 51 individuals – 34 from Turkey, 17 from Armenia - for their visits to the neighbouring country with specific purpose and programme mentioned in their submitted application forms.

 

Mr. Çağdaş Yazıcı and Ms. Eylem Şen from Izmir, Turkey will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for interviewing Musadag Armenians living in Yerevan for their documentary project.

 

Ms. Adrineh Gregorian from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for meeting with organisations and artists to develop projects, deliver workshops and expand her network in the field of cinematography.

 

Mr. Enis Köstepen from Istanbul, Turkeywill be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for inviting civil society organisations in Armenia to join the Reconciliation and Historical Dialogue Network of the Truth Justice Memory Center.

 

Mr. Andrey Araksyants, Mr. Arman Khojoyan and Ms. Naira Mkrtchyan from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant to visit Muğla, Turkey on behalf of the CARD Foundation for making contacts andexpending economic ties with business development organisations in Turkey.

 

Ms. Lara Narin, Mr. Saro Usta, Mr. Rupen Melkisetoğlu, Mr. Ferhat Karabut, Ms. İlkem Balseçen from Istanbul, Turkey, members of the music band Vomank based in İstanbul and performing in Armenian, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for a solo concert.

 

Ms. Derya Durmaz from Istanbul, Turkey will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for her short film Ziazan’s premiere at the Golden Apricot – Yerevan International Film Festival.

 

Ms. Emine Yıldırım from Istanbul, Turkey will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for the screening of her film The Impeccables in the Regional Feature Film Competition of the Golden Apricot – Yerevan International Film Festival and for networking with filmmakers and cultural actors in Armenia.

 

Ms. Susanna Isajanyan from Sisian, Armenia, member of the “Khariskh” NGO, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for creating ties between civil society organisations that work on promoting the involvement of disabled women from Armenia and Turkey in social-political and cultural life.

 

Mr. Alper Ecevit from Istanbul, Turkey, from Bahçeşehir University EU Affairs Department, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for meeting experts and academics for his research about the Armenia-Turkey border.

 

Ms. Devrim Akkaya from Istanbul, Turkey will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for the screening her documentary film Divyar in the Golden Apricot – Yerevan International Film Festival and for meeting film directors and producers in Armenia.

 

Mr. Kamo Davtyan, Mr.Mamikon Hovsepyan and Mr. Romik Danial from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for strengthening cooperation between organisations of both countries that work in the field of human rights protection and civic activism.

 

Ms. Lusine Sahakyan from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant for to visit Rize, Turkey for conducting field work research in Hamshenian inhabited areas in Turkey.

 

Ms. Şahhanım Kanat, Ms. Şeyda Bilken, Mr. İkram Doğan, Ms. Nalan Özçete and Ms. Behice Boran from Istanbul, Turkey, members of the Başak Culture and Art Foundation, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for meeting social work organisations and learning social service practices and models in Armenia.

 

Ms. Lülüfer Körükmez from Izmir, Turkey, from Ege University, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Gyumri and Lori, Armenia for conducting interviews and meeting academics and civil society organisations for her research about migration flows from Armenia to Turkey.

 

Ms. Katarine Galstyan, Mr.Mkhitar Khachatryan, Ms. Madlena Galstyan, Mr. Levon Harutyunyan and Mr. Artur Mkrtumyan from Yerevan, Armenia, members of the music band “Van Project” will be supported with the travel grant for their visit to Istanbul, Turkey for carrying out workshops and giving concerts during the II. International Helin Başak Art Festival.

 

Ms. Ayçanur Yıldırım from Ankara, Turkey, member of the Association of Renaissance Institute, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan and Vanadzor, Armenia for her research about Armenian music and Gomidas Vartaped.  

 

Ms. Dilek Karabenk from Kocaeli, Turkey, member of SHU-DER Association for Social Service Experts, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan,Armeniafor meeting Women’s Support Center and learning about policies and services towards women in Armenia.

 

Ms. Ani Sargsyan from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for making research at the Library of Istanbul University and strengthening academic collaborations.

 

Ms. Anna Muradyan from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant to visit Sivas, Turkey for investigating the field, environment, people and gathering information for her project devoted to oral history.

 

Ms. Suncem Koçer from Istanbul, Turkey, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armeniafor interviewing with film producers, festival organisers, art critics and journalists from Armenia.

 

Mr. Yavuz Özer from Afyon, Turkey will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan and other cities of Armenia for documenting history, culture, geography and life in Armenia for his photography project.

 

Mr. Çağdaş Bilir from Ankara, Turkey, member of METU LGBT Solidarity Society, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Vanadzor and Gyumri, Armenia for meeting human rights activities and LGBTs in Armenia.

 

Mr. Şeref Kavak from Istanbul, Turkey, PHD student, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan and other cities in Armenia to meet Armenian, Kurdish and Yezidi community organisations for his research about community relations in Armenia.

 

Mr. Yusuf Burak Dolu from Istanbul, Turkey will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, Armenia for meetingresearch centers and academics in Armenia for his research on the common cultural heritage of Gümüşhane region.

 

Ms. Karin Bal from Istanbul, Turkey, member of the Armenians of Sivas Society, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan and other cities in Armenia for meeting the Sivas/Sebastia Society in Armenia as part of their oral history study tour.

 

Ms. Mehtap Gül and Mr. Murat Diler from Afyon, Turkey who work on the education of children and students with disabilities, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan,Armenia for meeting and exchange of good practice with civil society organisations and families in Armenia.

 

Ms. Nurcan Türkay, Ms. Semiha Demir, Mr. Nimetullah Yürek, Ms. Seda Seve and Ms. Zelal Erdemci from Diyarbakır, Turkey, graduates of the Armenian language course offered by Sur District Municipality and the Surp Giragos Church in Diyarbakır, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan,Armenia for meeting various historic and cultural organisations and practice their Armenian.

 

Ms. Dila Kuş from Istanbul, Turkey, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Dilijan,Armenia for attending the summer school organised by UWC Dilijan - Dilijan International School of Armenia.

 

Mr. Varuzhan Geghamyan from Yerevan, Armenia will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for conducting the fieldwork of his research on the participation of national minorities in socio-political life of Turkey.

 

After their visits, Travel Grant beneficiaries’ experiences and impressions about the neighbouring country will be shared with public through the website of the Hrant Dink Foundation (www.hrantdink.org).

 

Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant will continue to support more beneficiaries in the coming months. Interested individuals, groups and organisations can apply at any time. However, the Selection Committee will decide on the beneficiaries in line with the Selection Timeline, the next deadline being September 15, 2014.
