CivilNet: Overcoming Borders Through Literature

A week-long literary seminar, titled “HAH,” took place in Dilijan’s Daravand resort. The seminar included vocational training courses, workshops and creative discussions for literary translators. Translators worked together with three experienced professionals who ran the seminar, as well as with contemporary Turkish author Birgul Oguz.
TEPAV: Armenia-Turkey Investor Day to support a Self-Sustaining Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

“Entrepreneurship and ideas can succeed where diplomacy and politics fail.” That was the conclusion following the first visit of the Turkish Entrepreneurship Delegation to Armenia in November 6-9, 2014. Since then, TEPAV and PJC collaboratively organized six exchanges between the two countries which prove that it really is possible to work together, learn from each other and strengthen the ties between these two countries via innovation and entrepreneurship.

With the aim to create and enhance a sustainable angel investing ecosystem in Armenia, the Public Journalism Club and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV), in cooperation with Angel Labs, the world’s first investor accelerator based in Silicon Valley, will conduct the first-ever Armenia-Turkey Investor Day. The launch of the event is planned on May 2, 2017. The meeting will be hosting prominent venture capitalists, angel investors from Silicon Valley and Germany, representatives of primary investing and business networks of Turkey and Armenia, as well as members of Angel Labs.

The financing of SMEs and start-ups in Armenia was the theme of an EU Investment Week held from 2 to 5 May.The week kicked off with the EU4Business SMEDA (Support to SME Development in Armenia) project organising visits to start-ups and innovative companies on 2 May. An Armenia-Turkey Investor Day was also held on the first day, promoting links between start-ups and comparing investment ecosystems, laws and best practices as part of the EU-supported normalisation process between the two countries. Around 80 representatives of venture capital and investment funds, start-ups, technology business incubators, experts, representatives of foreign missions participated.

On 2 May, the first ever Armenia-Turkey Investor Day was conducted in Yerevan by the Public Journalism Club of Armenia (PJC) and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV). The event was held in cooperation with Angel Labs, the world’s first investor accelerator from Silicon Valley, and was organised as part of the “Exchange Entrepreneurs” project, which is a component of the EU-funded “Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process: Stage 2” programme.

This weekend in North America and Europe, the sporty population will have turned to baseball, basketball, soccer, rugby and similar sports to enjoy their leisure time. In Armenia, however, they do things differently. Instead of watching TV, many Armenians will have been tuned into their radio stations to listen to live commentaries... of chess. The country, one of they youngest in the world since gaining independence in 1991, certainly likes to do things differently.

First-ever Armenia-Turkey Investor Day was held on Tuesday in Yerevan, Armenia. The event is aimed at promoting the idea of creation of a sustainable angel-investing network in Armenia and Turkey, introducing various formats of investor networks, as well as best international practices. The meeting was organized by The Public Journalism Club (PJC) and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV), in cooperation with Angel Labs, the world’s first investor accelerator based in Silicon Valley.

Armenia-Turkey Investor Day kicked off today in Yerevan. The event is aimed at promoting the idea of creating sustainable angel investing ecosystem in Armenia and Turkey, introducing various formats of investor networks and best international practices. The organizers of the event are the Public Journalism Club (PJC) and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV), in cooperation with Silicon Valley-based Angel Labs investor accelerator. Director of Angel Labs Tugce Ergul told Itel.am that similar events might become the most effective way of starting a dialogue between the two countries.

Antares publishing house in cooperation with the Turkish Publishers Association has organized a meeting of Armenian and Turkish publishers in Istanbul, Ermenihaber reports. Organized within the programme of Support to the Armenia-Turkey normalization process, the event brought together leading publishers form Armenia and Turkey, translators, representatives of NGOs and copywriting agencies. According to the source, the President at the Turkish Publishers Association Metin Celal and Secretary General at the Association Özgür Akın made introductory remarks, followed by a speech of Sevan Deyrmenjyan, Head of the "Araks" publishing house operating in Turkey, who presented a report on the history of Armenian publishing and the input of the “Araks” publishing house in the modern Armenian publishing.
