Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant Fourth Round Selection Results

Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant aims to support the travels of at least 200 individuals from March 2014 to May 2015 thanks to the financial assistance of the European Union. Hrant Dink Foundation administers the Travel Grant in partnership with the Civilitas Foundation in Armenia and with the support of Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) based in Turkey and the Youth Initiative Centre (YIC) based in Gyumri, Armenia.

We have lost our friend Gaye Coşar... We are full of sorrow...

We have lost Gaye Coşar - journalist, translator, our dear friend and one of the fellows of the Turkey-Armenia Fellowship Scheme of the Hrant Dink Foundation. Gaye passed away in Yerevan, Armenia due to a tragic traffic accident. Within the framework of the Turkey-Armenia Fellowship Scheme, since November Gaye Coşar was living in Yerevan and was contributing as a journalist to the Civilitas Foundation. After the traffic accident on December 26th, 2014, Gaye stayed in the hospital for 12 days and left us on January 7th early in the morning.

Open Call for "Creative Action and Public Intervention Workshop"

Anadolu Kültür invites socially and politically engaged people from Armenia and Turkey to participate in the Creative Action and Public Intervention Workshop that will take place in Istanbul on March 26th-31st, 2015. The six-day workshop is designed to build a platform for discussing concepts such as activism, political art, public intervention, creative resistance in the light of current social and political issues in Armenia and Turkey, and sharing experience among the participants.

The Results of Armenia-Turkey "Exchange of Painters" Programme

Exchange of Painters from Armenia and Turkey was a unique project that started in September 2014. The project utilized the means of art to help young artists from the two countries interact and learn about each other and their countries. The first phase of the exchange included a visit to Armenia by a group of young artists from Turkey in September 2014 followed by a second phase, during which Armenian painters visited Turkey. The selected paintings produced during the project are compiled in a 2015 calendar, which features one painting per participating artist, their reflections about their experiences during the project as well as photos documenting the highlights of the exchange visits.

On October 26 a meeting of architects, restoration specialists, historians, ethnographers and art historians from Armenia and Turkey was held in Istanbul. The meeting followed the study visit and research w of he experts in Mush duringOctobe 20-25 r. Theycame together in Istanbul to provide recommendations for further preservation and conservation of Armenian monuments in the Eastern part of Turkey.

A group of architects, restoration specialists, historians, ethnographers and art historians from Armenia and Turkey together with the Head of the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU) visited Mush city and province to study Armenian cultural heritage and assess Armenian monuments in Eastern parts of Turkey.

Screening of Films by Female Directors from Turkey During the “Kin” Festival

On November 1-5, 2015 the international “Kin” (Woman) Festival will be conducted in Armenia with participation of female film producers from Turkey. The festival is initiated and implemented by Legal Gender Cultural Foundatin Liza and this year’s program was included into a grants project supported by European Union funded Support to Armenia-Turkey Normalization Process Programme. It intends to establish professional ties between the female film directors/produces from Armenia and Turkey and promote cultural interactions through exchange visits.

Closed Borders, Open Minds: Part Two” Istanbul, Turkey

After a successful first part of a two-phase training course entitled, “Closed Borders, Open Minds,” in Yerevan from 12-19 May 2014, with twenty participants from Armenia and Turkey, the second, follow-up training was held in Istanbul from 13-19 October 2014. In partnership with the Civic Forum NGO, a recognized leader in the field of youth education and training, the second phase of the RSC youth training focused on the deepening of participants’ knowledge, developing their skills and shaping a more positive opinion and political context of the Armenia-Turkey normalisation process. The training course also featured visits to the Hrant Dink Foundation and the offices of the “Agos” newspaper.

The Armenia-Turkey Startup Weekend Bridged Young Entrepreneurs and their Startup Ideas

Yerevan-Gyumri, November 7-9: Public Journalism Club (PJC/Armenia) and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV/Turkey) brought together over 50 startup entrepreneurs, experts and investors from Armenia and Turkey as part of their joint ‘‘Exchange of Entrepreneurs’’ project funded by the European Union within the framework of the programme ‘‘Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process’’. One of the highlights of the project - the Armenia-Turkey Startup Weekend kicked off on November 7th in Yerevan. The Startup Weekend then continued on November 8th to 9th at the Gyumri Technological Center - the TechnoPark (Gyumri, Guy 1).

A round table discussion titled “Getting to Know Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in Armenia and Turkey: Exploring Collaboration Opportunities” was held on November 6, at 16:00 at the VIP auditorium of Elite Plaza Business Hotel (Yerevan, Khorenatsi 15). The round table kicked off the “Exchange of Entrepreneurs” Project jointly organised by the Public Journalism Club and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) within the framework of the programme ‘‘Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process’’ funded by the European Union. The project aims to help ICT representatives from Turkey to form an understanding of the ICT sector in Armenia and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Launch of the Exchange of Entrepreneurs Project in Armenia with Participation of Enterpeneurs from Armenia and Turkey

On November 6, 2014 the Public Journalism Club (Armenia) and Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) will launch the first stage of the Exchange of Entrepreneurs project in Armenia designed to bring together entrepreneurs from Armenia and Turkey. The exchange, which takes place within the framework of the programme ‘Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process’ funded by the European Union, will include several events, visits and discussions in Yerevan and Gyumri.

“Cross-cultural Bridge between the Youth of Armenia and Turkey” Project

Forum Theater NGO is implementing the “Cross-cultural Bridge between the Youth of Armenia and Turkey” project under a grant scheme implemented by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation within a Program “Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalization Process”. The goal of the project is to bring together artists from Armenia and Turkey to discuss and share experience on current situation and relations between the two countries. By using art, the participants will present their opinion on solving prejudices between youngsters of Turkey-Armenia.

“Media Bus” – Tool for the Normalization of the Armenian-Turkish Relations

Within the framework of the “Media Bus” project 10 journalists and bloggers from Turkey are currently visiting Armenia. They have been traveling through Turkey and Armenia with 10 Armenian colleagues. “For me as a professional, it is a life-changing possibility to get to know Armenian colleagues and see Armenia … It is impossible to establish relations between the two countries until the two nations know one another,” said Hüseyin Hayatsever, freelance journalist, today at the Media Center hosted press conference.
