Armenia, Turkey | Anadolu Kültür, Public Journalism Club
On August 11 the Public Journalism Club (PJC) summarized the results of the open call for its “Exchange of Painters” project.

Four applications for participation were reviewed and the team of young painters under the mentorship of Gagik Charchyan, the head of the Drawing Studio at the Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex’s High School of Fine Art, was selected to represent Armenia in the project.

The group of young painters from Turkey is also known. It will be led by mentor Serdar Yilmaz, who is currently an Associate Professor at the Fine Arts Department of Marmara University of Istanbul.

The project will start on September 1, 2014.

Within the framework of the “Exchange of Painters” project PJC and Anadolu Kültür are organising two exchange visits for painters from Armenia and Turkey. A group of four young artists led by a mentor from Armenia and a similar one from Turkey have been selected via an open call to participate in the exchange. Each exchange will include exhibitions, interactive workshops, master classes as well as joint flash-mob style painting sessions in public spaces.

Open-air studios will be set up in busy public spaces where the participating painters’ works will be observed by guests and passers-by. Exchange participants will visit art colleges and popular art exhibitions in Armenia and Turkey. During those visits discussions will be held on the trends and issues of contemporary art and the environment both in Armenia and Turkey. Following the first part of the exchange during which a group of artists from Turkey will visit Armenia on September 1st to 8th; a group from Armenia will also travel to Turkey in late September-early October 2014.

Exchange of Painter Project is implemented in the framework of the Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process funded by the European Union.
